About this project
Designed as both a weekend retreat and a place to store an RV, this College Station barndominium combines just under 2,200 sq. ft. of living space with a large shop and garage area. The living area includes four bedrooms and four bathrooms, while the shop provides the height and space needed for RV storage.
The main building measures 50′ × 84′ with a 21′ eave height, a 5:12 main roof pitch, and 14-inch overhangs. The front entry uses a 4:12 pitch, while the main patio drops to 2:12, giving each section of the building its own roofline. The building uses an LP frame configuration, PBA wall panels, VS-216 roof panels, and includes 24 windows throughout.
The shop and garage were insulated with 9-inch roof insulation with a black vinyl facing and 3-inch wall insulation with white vinyl facing. All of the lean-to areas were insulated as well.
This one is a good example of a barndominium designed around two purposes: comfortable living space for the weekend and a full-size shop with room to keep the RV under the same roof.
